Proposed Rock World Park

Rock World Park is a small urban park proposed by the George Town Special Area Plan. It encompasses the compound of the New Theatre at Drury Lane, off Kuala Kangsar Road, with another outlet to Campbell Street. The area covers 0.64 acres.

Appreciating of the Historic Significance of this Site

The New Theatre, or Sin Hee Tai in Hokkien, is the centre of the theatre district of George Town. Even the lane that connects New Theatre to its surrounding streets was named after Drury Lane in London's Covent Garden area. The New Theatre itself was probably named after the New London Theatre located there.
