My wife and I had breakfast at Wembley Cafe on 9 May, 2015. Before we ate there, we have heard that food at Wembley Cafe is nothing to shout about. I don't care much for the dim sum, but apart from that, I found the rest of the food to be excellent.
When it comes to choices, Wembley Cafe is hard to beat. The wide array of food that you can have is almost unimaginable. It range from local to Western to Japanese. And it's not just one or two choices per type. There is so much food to choose from.
After we have done one or two rounds of eating, I discovered that I have only covered one side of the food aisle. On the other side of the food aisle is another passageway lined with more food selection!
Here's a quick run-through of all the food I can recall during breakfast at Wembley Cafe. There's waffles, sushi, miso soup, pancakes, pastries, mee goreng, hash browns, chicken curry, sambal udang, hard-boiled eggs, nasi lemak, dumplings, dim sum, dhal, roti canai, murtabak, bread pudding, porridge, various types of cold cuts and cheese. For beverage, there's plain water, various juices, various coffees and various teas. Unlike some hotel restaurants which offer just a limited selection, there's more food here than I can take, even if I just take a small portion of each item.
Perhaps the most outstanding item available are the cakes. They don't just give you cakes. I can see the amount of care that went into creating each of those cupcakes. The ones which I ate were red velvet cupcake and brownie cupcake. Often my wife and I share the food we take, so that we get to try out more items, and we dislike wasting food by leaving anything uneaten.
Half way through breakfast, the restaurant manager Alvin appeared. On seeing that I am in residence, he came over to greet me by name, and asked if my wife and I were enjoying the spread, to which we answered that we were. "I look forward to seeing you again for lunch afterwards," he said.
When I told him we weren't sure whether lunch had been arranged for us at Wembley, he said that if no arrangement was made, then he would like us to come anyway, as his guests. Wow, that was so nice, and we heartily accepted his kind invitation.
