Potatoes USA Event, The Wembley - A St Giles Premier Hotel (20 February 2020)
Today is a day with plenty of potatoes. How is that so? Because today I attended the Potatoes USA event, which was at The Wembley - A St Giles Premier Hotel. The event started at 2 o'clock and was attended by mostly ladies from various local organisations.
The host and MC, Mr William Tan kicked off the event by giving us the schedule of the day. We were reminded that they would be two tea breaks, where food will be served. In particular, we were told not to over eat at the first tea break, as there would be food aplenty.
For the first time ever, this Potatoes USA event had the participation of two highly experienced Japanese masterchefs.
Chef Yukichi Matsubara, who now runs B-Lab Bar+Bistro+Bakery in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur has over 30 years' experience in the art of creating breads and pastries. For this event, he made for us two items namely the US Potato Curry Bun and US Potato Pizza with Gorgonzola.
Chef Hideaki Nakajima has some 37 years experience and has worked for various Japanese restaurants in Kuala Lumpur. He won the Hospitality Asia Platinum Award from 2010 to 2012. Chef Hideaki made two dishes also, Nikujaga and US Potato Buns Topped with Seafood Sauce.
It seemed like we were eating the whole time! And at the end of the even, Chef Hideaki served us his special miso soup which is so delicious. Before we leave, each guest was given a goody bag of door gifts which includes three russet potatoes. It was indeed a wonderful end to a wonderful event.
