Heily Monroe Garden Bistro By The Sea (GPS: 5.46624, 100.28406) is a restaurant in Tanjung Bungah, Penang. As its name suggests, it is located on Jalan Wee Hein Tze, near to Infinity Condominium.

Heily Monroe is the successor to the ever popular Monroe Restaurant at 1926 Heritage Hotel, which was closed due to Covid-19 movement control order. This new incarnation is several times the size of the former, and affords a lot of space for social activities. However, until movement control is fully over, the restaurant has to hold back having live bands and dancing.

My wife and I were thrilled to enjoy a dinner at Heily Monrow on 16 October 2020. We were invited by its owner, Mr Daniel Chee, whom we have known from way back. The meal is a 4-course affair with soup, followed by appetizers, main course, and dessert. This is priced according to the main course, unless you order appetizers on the add-on menu.

For soup, I had the Crab Bisque Soup while my wife had the Wild Mushroom Soup. Continuing to the appetizer, I had the Escargot while my wife the Pan Seared Scallop with Mango Salsa and Caviar. Both appetizers were exquisite. The escargot has been deshelled to facilitate handling, so we did not have to pry the fresh from the shell. The scallops were juicy and cooked just nice.

I had the King Prawn Baked Thermidore for my main course, while my wife had the Seafood Stuffed Fish Fillet. To finish off the meal, Daniel prepared for us two exquisite desserts.

This is one of the best meals we have had in quite a while, and we thank Mr Chee for extended the hospitality to us.
