Old Frees' Association-Annexe Clubhouse (5 July 2017)


The Annexe Clubhouse (GPS: 5.33711, 100.30708) of the Old Frees' Association (OFA) is located in Bayan Lepas, Penang. The annexe clubhouse, which opened on 1 April, 2012, is on the 3rd floor of a standalone building in the Bay Avenue commercial area of Queensbay. The clubhouse is open only to members of the OFA and their guests. Members visiting the clubhouse has to log in and out, and so do their guests.

Facilities at the Annexe Clubhouse include a boardroom, a lounge, a bar, a karaoke room, a gym, a sauna, a library and even a children's playroom. The clubhouse is open Sundays to Thursdays from 10:00 am to 12:15am, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 am.

I visited the Annexe Clubhouse in the company of Miss Molly Ooi, who is one of the life members of the OFA. Miss Ooi was my English teacher in Form Five at the Penang Free School, way back in 1982, that's thirty-five years ago. We visited the clubhouse together with her husband, Mr Hwang Hong Shi. Arriving there, we bumped into another OFA member, Mr Lim Wee Seong, who is a few years my junior.
