Merdeka Village, George Town, Penang (29 November 2012)
Merdeka Village or Kampung Merdeka, is an urban village in George Town, Penang. It was created in the mid 20th century through land reclamation to create much needed space to house the working class. The land was sold off cheaply for people to build their own village houses. Low-cost terrace houses were also erected in the area.
The main road in the area is Lebuhraya Merdeka. Branching out from it are small roads including Jalan Merdeka, Pintasan Pengkalan 1, 2, 3 and 4.
