Seri Kembangan (GPS: 3.02199, 101.70554) is a township in Selangor. It is located to the south of Kuala Lumpur, being surrounded by Bandar Baru Sri Petaling to the north, Balakong to the east and Serdang to the south. As with its surrounding areas, Seri Kembangan began as a tin mining settlement. It is home to the largest open cast tin mine - the site of today's MINES Wellness City.
When it was established in 1952, Seri Kembangan was originally called Kampung Baru Serdang, or Serdang New Village, and indeed it can be considered part of Serdang. This was during the Malayan Emergency period, when the Chinese villagers were relocated to contain the threat posed by the Communists. The township has since transformed from a village into an urban area.
