Jalan Raja Alang is a road in Kuala Lumpur. It runs from Kampung Baru in the east to Chow Kit in the west. On the western side, it starts at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, while on the east side, it ends at jalan Raja Muda Musa. According to Kuala Lumpur Street Names1, the road was named after a Mandailing aristocrat, Raja Alang bin Raja Berayun, who moved to Kuala Lumpur from Sumatra.
Jalan Raja Alang was originally called Perkins Road, after the Deputy Surveyor-General of the Federated Malay States and Straits Settlements, C.J. Perkins. In 1968, the son of Raja Alang, Datuk Raja Mohamed, was given the honour of having Perkins Road renamed after him, in appreciation of his contribution to Malaya's independence. However, he declined the honour and instead had the road renamed after his father.
