Bandar Malaysia Selatan MRT Station (PY26; GPS: 3.10784, 101.69827) is a non-operational underground station on the MRT Putrajaya Line. It lies within the planned Bandar Malaysia mixed-use development in southern Kuala Lumpur, positioned between Bandar Malaysia Utara MRT Station (PY25) to the north and Kuchai MRT Station (PY27) to the south. Though not open to passengers, the station structure has been fully built to accommodate future urban and transport expansion12.
Bandar Malaysia Selatan MRT Station is one of two MRT stations planned within the Bandar Malaysia precinct. Like its counterpart Bandar Malaysia Utara MRT Station, it was constructed during Phase 2 of the MRT Putrajaya Line development but remains inactive pending further urban development within the Bandar Malaysia area23.
The station is expected to form part of the Bandar Malaysia Integrated Transport Terminal, envisioned as Malaysia’s next major rail interchange. This hub will consolidate multiple rail services including MRT, KTM Komuter, and potentially the Kuala Lumpur–Singapore High-Speed Rail, making it a focal point of connectivity for Greater Kuala Lumpur3.
Located near Jalan Sungai Besi and the former Royal Malaysian Air Force base area, Bandar Malaysia Selatan MRT Station sits at the southern end of the planned Bandar Malaysia development. The location offers direct connectivity potential to major expressways such as the Maju Expressway (MEX), Sungai Besi Expressway (BESRAYA), and Federal Highway4.
When opened, the station will serve as a key interchange and transit hub, complementing the Bandar Malaysia Utara MRT Station and connecting southern Kuala Lumpur with regional and international rail networks. It is expected to support the future Kuala Lumpur–Singapore High-Speed Rail, providing an integrated link between urban and intercity travel5.
The Bandar Malaysia project aims to transform the former air base into a world-class, transit-oriented district with mixed commercial, residential, and institutional developments designed around sustainable mobility. Both MRT stations will be essential to that vision36.
As of 2025, trains on the MRT Putrajaya Line pass through the completed tunnel sections of the Bandar Malaysia Selatan MRT Station without stopping. It will open once the Bandar Malaysia project reaches a sufficient stage of construction and occupancy to generate passenger demand12.
Although both Bandar Malaysia MRT stations are currently inactive, they are among the most technically complex underground structures on the MRT Putrajaya Line — built to accommodate large passenger volumes, interline transfers, and future expansions to regional rail networks6.
