Khazanah Nasional Penang (U.A.B Building)

Khazanah Nasional (GPS: 5.41554, 100.34199), the sovereign wealth fund of the Malaysian Government, has its Penang office at U.A.B Building, or Bangunan U.A.B, a Category II-listed historic building along China Street Ghaut in George Town, Penang. The building is within the core zone of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The U.A.B. Building was erected in the 1930s, in the Art Deco style. It is one of two buildings flanking the Victoria Street junction of China Street Ghaut of the same design. The other building today houses the Wawasan Open University Regional & Learning Office.

The U.A.B Building was occupied by the Indian Overseas Bank which opened in Penang in July 1937. It was the first overseas branch of the bank which was founded less than a year earlier, in November 1936. In 2016, it was renovated to become the Penang office for Khazanah Nasional, opening in June, 2016.
