Nishitokyo
(Japanese: 西東京市) is a city on the central northern part of
Tokyo Metropolis
, adjacent to the special wards of central Tokyo. It occupies an area of 15.85 sq km (6.12 sq mi) and has a population approaching 200,000 people (2012 estimate).
Nishitokyo was formed only in 2001 by merging the cities of Hoya and Tanashi. The name means "West Tokyo". It borders
