Higashikurume (Japanese: 東久留米市) is a city on the northern part of Tokyo Metropolis. It covers 12.92 sq km (4.99 sq mi) and has a population of 114,000 people (2012 estimate).
Higashikurume is bordered by Higashimurayama, Kiyose, Kodaira, Nishitokyo and Niiza in Saitama Prefecture. Due to its proximity, it serves as a bedroom community to central Tokyo. The city is home to a number of factories including those for Coca-Cola and Daiwa Seiko.
Higashikurume traces its history to the founding of Kurume Village in 1889. At that time, it was part of Kanagawa Prefecture. It was transferred to Tokyo Prefecture, precursor of Tokyo Metropolis, on 1 April, 1893. In 1956, Kurume was given town status while the city of Higashikurume was founded on 1 October, 1970.

By train, take the Seibu Ikebukuro Line to the Higashi-Kurume station. By road, you can take the bus by the Seibu Bus Company.
