Raja Ghat in the morning, Varanasi. (16 November, 2004)

Raja Ghat is located south of Dashaswamedh Ghat, between Babua Pandey Ghat and Kshameshwar Ghat, along the Ganges in Varanasi.

Raja Ghat used to be a ferry ghat until 1 January 1887, when the Lord Duffrin Bridge was built. That bridge, now called Malviya Bridge, was built for vehicular as well as rail traffic. Raja Ghat is so old that it is mentioned in the Gahadavala inscription dating back to 1100AD.

I viewed the Raja Ghat when we explored the Ganges River by boat in the morning. I have also passed through it when I was ghats south of Dashaswamedh the in heat of the November afternoon.
