Chittoor (Telugu: చిత్తూరు) is a city on the southern part of Andhra Pradesh state in India. It is located on the banks of the Ponnai River, 333.75 m (1,094 ft) above sea level and has a population of around 350,000 people (2012 estimate). Chittoor is most famous for the Kanipakam Vinayaka Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Ganesha. The temple dates from the 11th century AD.
Most of the people of Chittor speak Telegu, though Kannada and Tamil are also popular here.
