Speakers' Square, Penang

Speakers' Square, or Dataran Pidato, is a public-speaking site in George Town, Penang. It is located at the Esplanade, immediately behind the Millennium Monument.

The general public is allowed to air their views at Speakers' Square every Wednesday and Sunday between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm beginning from 9 May, 2010. The Speakers' Square is modelled after the Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park, London, where anybody can turn up to talk on whatever subject. However, the police can still arrest anybody who make seditious remarks.
