Thanh Hóa is a coastal city in northern Vietnam. Covering 57.9 sq km, it has a population of about 200,000 people (2011 estimate).
Thanh Hóa is the capital of the eponymous province. It is located to the south of the Red River Delta, about 137 km south of Hanoi. The city suffered severe devastation during the Vietnam War. Since then the entire city has been rebuilt.
