The Municipal Theater of Ho Chi Minh City is an elegant French-colonial style building at Lam Son Square, at the intersection of Le Loi and Dong Khoi streets. Known in Vietnamese as Nha Hat Thanh Pho or the Opera House, it was built in 1899 as a concert hall to entertain the French colonials.

The Municipal Theater has a graceful staircase leading up to the grand entrance which is flanked by columns in the shape of Greco-Roman goddesses. The theater is still being used today for all types of performances from traditional Vietnamese theater to even rock concerts.
