Bắc Ninh is a small city in the Red River Delta in northern Vietnam. It covers 80.82 sq km and has a population of around 165,000 people (2011 estimate). The city is the provincial capital of the eponymous province. It was granted city status in January, 2006.
The name Bắc Ninh means "norhtern peace". It is one of the cities within the Hanoi metropolitan area. It is home to a number of institutions including the Kinh Bac International School and Banking Academy of Vietnam.
