Saphan Hok is a drawbridge across Khlong Lord in Rattanakosin. Originally, it was made of wood. The platform can be lifted up for boats to pass through the canal. As the bridge was built in Dutch style, it was originally called Saphan Hok Baeb Wilanda (Dutch-style Bridge).
There were all together six Saphan Hok built during the reigns of King Rama IV and King Rama V, both in Rattanakosin as well as in Thonburi. All these bridges have since disappeared. The Saphan Hok that we see today is a replica, specially reconstructed according to old photographs.
