Wat Lokayasuttharam, Ayutthaya (30 December, 2002)
Wat Lokayasuttharam (GPS: 14.35554, 100.55237; วัดโลกยสุธาราม ) is an ancient Thai Buddhist temple ruin in the city of Ayutthaya, Thailand. The temple is located behind the Royal Palace and the Pratoochai Primary School. It is believed that this temple was built around 1412 by King Intharacha.
The main feature of Wat Lokayasuttharam is its huge reclining Buddha image, the Phra Bhuddhasaiyart. The length is variously reported as between 28 meters and 37 meters, with a height of about 8 meters. Even today, devotees continue to bring flowers and other offerings to the statue.
Apart from the Phra Bhuddhasaiyart, the other feature of Wat Lokayasuttharam is its prang, which today is in a state of ruin. This prang is 30 meters tall, and was built in the Late Ayutthaya period
