Saffron, Lot 33 (12 December 2014)
Saffron, Lot 33 is a restaurant at
Lot 33, Prangin Mall. Diners enjoy semi buffets if they order a main course costing above RM14 (which in other words, means just about anything on the menu). On our visit to Saffron, both my wife and I ordered chicken. I had the Sous Vide Pesto Chicken while my wife the Barbecue Chicken.
The Sous Vide Pesto Chicken offers two pieces of chicken fillet. It's not exact to the photo in their menu, which shows the pesto sauce on the side, but mine was dribbed over the chicken. The chicken was a bit on the dry side, but other than that, quite okay. So this is how something cooked sous vide tastes like, I have wondered about that.

I feel my wife's BBQ chicken was juicier than my chicken. That's partly because it is a chicken thigh, which would be more tender. My wife commented that the barbecue sauce probably came straight out of a bottle, and she is probably right. One addition to her plate was the little tray of fries, which does not appear in the menu photo. That is all fine, but we hardly touch the fries.

The benefit of having a semi buffet is that we could top up with any side dishes of our choice. We didn't care much for the cakes, but did two rounds of the salad. On the whole, we found that the price is quite reasonable (our chicken cost just RM19 nett per plate).
