The dishes we had at Peranakan Passion with Catherina Hosoi (12 December 2017)

My Singapore friend Catherina Hosoi was in Penang recently with her husband, Koichiro Hosoi. Though born here, it has been twenty years since she last returned to Penang, so it was a trip down memory lane for her. The trip was far too short for her to do everything she desired, but we managed to have a nice meal at Peranakan Passion in Bayan Baru.
I made arrangement with the owner Mr Lee, to give the Hosois a lovely treat. Among the dishes prepared for the dinner included Chicken Buah Keluak, Assam Pedas Fish, Ayam Pongteh, Goreng Udang Berempah, Jiu Hu Char, Pai Tee and Chicken Omelette. We had blue rice to go with the dishes.
Again, it was a wonderful meal with wonderful company. Mr Lee was too busy in the kitchen, so he delegated to his business partner and relative, Mr Lim, to entertain us. The restaurant was so packed that evening. We were lucky that we booked a table, otherwise we would not be able to eat there that night.
