The Kalyan Minaret Replica of Taman Tamadun Islam, Kuala Terengganu, is a replica of an Islamic monument in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. The minaret is today a landmark of the city. It was built in 1127 by the Qarakhanid ruler Arslan Khan for use in calling Muslims to prayer.

When Genghis Khan invaded Bukhara, he was so impressed with the Kalyan Minaret that he ordered that it be spared from destruction. Nevertheless the minaret had a sinister history as criminals were thrown to their death from the top. The practice was carried out uptil 1870, when it was stopped, but was resumed during the turbulent years between 1917 and 1920.
