Subang Parade is one of the oldest and most established shopping malls in Subang Jaya, Selangor. Located along Jalan Kemajuan, adjacent to the Federal Highway, the mall has served the Subang Jaya community since 1988. Developed as one of Malaysia's pioneering suburban shopping centres, Subang Parade continues to attract shoppers with its diverse mix of retail outlets, restaurants, entertainment facilities, and family-oriented services. Its central location within Subang Jaya places it close to residential neighbourhoods, commercial developments, hotels, and educational institutions.1
Situated in the heart of Subang Jaya's commercial district, Subang Parade occupies a prominent site along Jalan Kemajuan, with excellent visibility from the Federal Highway. When it opened in 1988, it was among Malaysia's first large suburban shopping malls and played a significant role in transforming Subang Jaya into one of the Klang Valley's premier residential and commercial townships. Despite the emergence of many newer malls, Subang Parade remains a popular destination for shopping, dining, entertainment, and community events.2
Subang Parade was developed by Sime UEP Properties Berhad, the master developer of Subang Jaya. At the time of its opening, the mall represented one of the largest retail developments outside Kuala Lumpur city centre. It introduced many national and international retailers to the rapidly growing township and became the preferred shopping destination for residents from Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, and Klang.3
In later years, ownership of the mall was transferred to Hektar REIT, which has undertaken several refurbishment and upgrading programmes to modernise the property while preserving its role as a neighbourhood shopping destination. Renovations have refreshed the interiors, improved the tenant mix, and enhanced the overall visitor experience.4
Subang Parade has a gross floor area of approximately 800,000 square feet, with around 500,000 square feet of net lettable retail space spread across four shopping levels. The mall features wide internal walkways, naturally lit atriums, multiple entrances, and direct access to multi-storey and basement parking facilities. Its straightforward layout makes it easy for visitors to navigate between retail, dining, and entertainment areas.5
Although its architectural style reflects the design trends of the late 1980s, periodic refurbishment projects have modernised the common areas, lighting, flooring, and tenant frontages while maintaining the mall's familiar character that long-time visitors appreciate.6
Subang Parade offers a broad mix of retail outlets serving both everyday shopping needs and lifestyle interests. The mall combines established national brands with specialty retailers and service providers, making it popular with families, students, and office workers alike.7
The mall is anchored by several well-known retailers, including:
These anchor tenants draw consistent visitor traffic throughout the week and complement the mall's extensive selection of smaller retailers.8
Visitors will find stores covering a wide range of categories, including fashion, footwear, jewellery, cosmetics, electronics, telecommunications, gifts, stationery, toys, optical services, health products, and household goods. Numerous banking facilities, beauty salons, travel agencies, and mobile phone retailers also operate within the mall.9
Food and beverage outlets form an important component of Subang Parade's appeal. The mall features cafés, bakeries, dessert shops, fast-food restaurants, family dining establishments, and casual eateries representing both Malaysian and international cuisines.10
Among the restaurants and cafés that have operated at the mall over the years are:
The dining options cater to shoppers throughout the day, from breakfast and coffee to family dinners and quick takeaway meals.11
Golden Screen Cinemas remains one of the mall's principal attractions, screening the latest local and international films. The cinema has long been a favourite entertainment venue for residents of Subang Jaya and neighbouring communities.12
The central atrium regularly hosts exhibitions, festive celebrations, promotional events, children's activities, cultural performances, educational programmes, and seasonal decorations during major celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali, and Christmas. These events reinforce the mall's longstanding role as a community gathering place.13
Subang Parade enjoys excellent road connectivity via the Federal Highway, Persiaran Kewajipan, Jalan Kemajuan, the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), and the Damansara–Puchong Expressway (LDP). Its central location makes it easily accessible from many parts of the Klang Valley.14
The mall is also well served by public transport. The following rail stations are located within a 2-kilometre radius:
In addition, numerous buses operated by Rapid KL and other operators stop near the mall, providing convenient access for commuters throughout the Klang Valley.15
For more than three decades, Subang Parade has remained one of Subang Jaya's best-known landmarks. Although newer shopping centres such as Sunway Pyramid and Empire Shopping Gallery have expanded the retail landscape, Subang Parade continues to maintain a loyal customer base through its convenient location, practical tenant mix, family-friendly environment, and regular community events.16
Today, the mall continues to evolve through ongoing refurbishment, new tenant introductions, and enhanced customer facilities while preserving its identity as one of Malaysia's pioneering suburban shopping centres. It remains an important commercial and social hub for residents of Subang Jaya and the wider Klang Valley.17
