Originally known by the interim name Tropicana during the planning and construction stages, the station was officially renamed BU11 before the commencement of passenger services. Situated between Kayu Ara LRT Station and Damansara Idaman LRT Station, it provides an important rail connection for residents and businesses in the Bandar Utama 11 neighbourhood. Operated by Rapid Rail as part of the Rapid KL network, the station forms part of the LRT Shah Alam Line linking Bandar Utama with Johan Setia in Klang.1
BU11 LRT Station was built as part of the LRT Shah Alam Line to improve public transport accessibility in the northern part of Petaling Jaya. The station serves the Bandar Utama 11 neighbourhood, offering residents a convenient alternative to travelling by private vehicle. As one of the northern stations on the line, it contributes to strengthening rail connectivity between Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang.2
During the planning and construction of the railway, the station was referred to by the interim name Tropicana. Before the line entered service, however, it was officially renamed BU11 LRT Station to better reflect the locality that it serves. The name also distinguishes it from the future Tropicana LRT Station farther along the line, which is expected to open in 2031.3

BU11 LRT Station has been designed as a barrier-free facility that is accessible to all passengers. Lifts, ramps, wheelchair-friendly fare gates and tactile guidance paths provide convenient access throughout the station. These features ensure that elderly passengers, wheelchair users and families with young children are able to use the station safely and comfortably.11
The station is connected to surrounding neighbourhoods through local roads, feeder bus services, designated pick-up and drop-off areas, and ride-hailing services. These transport connections improve first- and last-mile accessibility while encouraging greater use of public transport for daily commuting.12
Its location also allows convenient travel to neighbouring communities such as Kayu Ara, Bandar Utama, Damansara Idaman and the wider Petaling Jaya area, making the station an important part of the northern section of the LRT Shah Alam Line.13
BU11 LRT Station plays an important role in improving rail accessibility for residents of Bandar Utama 11 while strengthening connectivity across Petaling Jaya. Together with neighbouring stations, it supports the objectives of reducing road congestion, encouraging greater public transport usage and promoting sustainable urban mobility throughout the Klang Valley.14
