Barrack Road, Kuching

Barrack Road is one of the main roads in Kuching. It starts at the Main Bazaar, and ends at the junction with Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg. The road was named after the police barracks that were built to house the Sikhs and Sepoys who were brought to Kuching to keep law and order. The barracks used to stretch from India Street to the Central Police Station, but has long ago been pulled down. Nevertheless, the road still commemorates their presence.
