Later on, it was also used as the official palace of Sultan Abu Bakar, who reigned from 1932 until 1974.
The Sultan Abu Bakar Museum was opened on 21 October, 1976, by the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, and was named in memory of his father.
