Jalan Tong Shin, Kuala Lumpur (Jun 2024)

Jalan Tong Shin is a minor road in the Bukit Bintang part of Kuala Lumpur. It connects on one end with Jalan Bukit Bintang.

Jalan Tong Shin was named, interestingly, not after a person, but after Hospital Tung Shin1, which is located on nearby Jalan Pudu. The hospital, which was founded by Kapitan Cina Yap Kwan Seng in 1881, was originally located on Sultan Street (present day Jalan Sultan), where it was originally known as Pooi Shin Thong. The hospital changed its name to Tong Shin Hospital in 1894, when it became a non-profit organisation.
