It connects with Jalan U Thant in the south with Persiaran Madge, at the intersection with Jalan Madge. The road also forms a T-junction where one branch is named Lorong Ampang 2. It is one of the roads in the leafy ambassador row of Kuala Lumpur. The road was named after Thant, the 3rd Secretary-General of the United Nations.
