Jalan Istana is a six-lane boulevard on the southwestern part of Kuala Lumpur. It is part of the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 1.

Jalan Istana starts at the interchange with Jalan Sungai Besi, a short distance from the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway, at the north end of the old Sungai Besi Airport. At the junction of Jalan Bukit Petaling is the UNHCR (United Nation High Commission for Refugees) and the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Istana Negara, the royal palace, is up the hill at Jalan Bukit Petaling.

Jalan Istana ends at the interchange near the Klang River, where it is intersected by Jalan Syed Putra. Continuing on from here is Jalan Damansara.
