Pulau Balar is a small island in Langkawi. It is one of the southernmost islands in a cluster that includes Pulau Gubang Darat, Pulau Gubang Laut, Pulau Tajai, Pulau Ketumbu, Pulau Batang, Pulau Selat Riang Riang and Pulau Ujong Buloh.

Pulau Balar is located to the south of Pulau Dayang Bunting, and is characterised by having a "tail" on the southeastern part, making it look like a rodent in aerial views. The word "balar" means the colour of tan, on the hide or complexion. There is no clear explanation how this island got its name.
