Baling District is a district on the eastern part of Kedah. It is bordered by Sik District to the north, Thailand to the east, Perak to the southeast, Kulim District to the south, and Kuala Muda District to the west. The district has a total area of 1530 sq km, and a population of close to 150,000.
The district capital is the town of Baling, located roughly at the centre of the district almost equidistant from the north and south. It is quite near the Malaysian-Thai border. The nearest border crossing is at Bukit Berapit in Pengkalan Hulu, Perak. Highway Route 76 links Baling to Pengkalan Hulu, and onwards to Gerik to join the East-West Highway.
