Pekan Cina-Pekan Melayu Arch, Alor Setar (30 July, 2016)


Pekan Cina-Pekan Melayu Arch (GPS: 6.11574, 100.36362) is an arch in Alor Setar, Kedah. It is built across Persiaran Sultan Abdul Halim, on the northern side of the bridge across Sungai Kedah, where the road meets Jalan Sultan Muhammad Jiwa.

The Pekan Cina-Pekan Melayu Arch was erected by the Kedah Chinese Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the solidarity between the Chinese and Malay communities in Alor Seter. As one approaches the arch from the south, one may see the signage showing that Pekan Cina is on the left side of the road, while Pekan Melayu is on the right.
