Ketam Bunga is the saltwater crab also known locally as Flower Crab or Sea Crab. It features in seafood meals, and some times appear as a dinner dish. Ketam Bunga is usually prepared as a curry with pineapples. It can also be fried with chilli or beanpaste. It terms of price, it is slightly cheaper than Ketam Batu, the amphibious Mud Crab.

There is no complete agreement whether Malays are allowed to eat Ketam Bunga. Some people say yes, some say no. Those who say yes reason that it lives in the sea the whole time, while those who say no tells me that only fish with scales and shrimps can be eaten. Most people tell me that Malays should not eat Ketam Batu, as it spends part of its life on land and another part in the water.
