Kongo Nogakudo Theater (GPS: 35.02582, 135.75889) is a Noh theater that opened across from the Kyoto Imperial Palace grounds in June of 2003. Before that, Kongo Theater was located at Shijo Muromachi district. It has the longest history of regular use as a noh stage in japan.
As in its previous site, the Kongo Nogakudo Theater incorporates features found over there, including an outdoor stage and outdoor acoustic earthenware jars. If you want to view a noh performance, they are held on the last Sunday of the month. At other times, you can view exhibits of noh costumes and masks in the lobby.
