Tuban is a tourist area on the southern part of Kuta. Originally a separate village, Tuban is now absorbed into the contigous tourist development of Kuta, and usually the name Kuta is used to cover the entire tourist area from Seminyak and Legian all the way to Tuban.
Tuban is also the home of the Ngurah Rai International Airport. Along its coastline are luxury hotels with much more spacious grounds than the hotels within Kuta or Legian. You also get a feeling that Tuban is more orderly and free from the hustle and bustle of crowded Kuta.
On the northern part of Tuban is the Matahari Department Store, one of a chain of department stores found throughout Indonesia. Tuban also has a water theme park, Waterbom, with slides and pools.
