Sakleshpur (Kannada: ಸಕಲೇಶಪುರ) is a hill station on the south-central part of the state of Karnataka, India. Located 949 m (3,114 ft) above sea level in the Western Ghats, it has a population of 23,000 people.
According to theory, the name Sakleshpur was named after a shivalinga which was found in the town. The linga was called Shakaleshwara, and a temple was erected to house it. The town that developed around the temple was called Sakaleshpura and eventually Sakleshpur, meaning town of the Shakaleshwara linga.
