Pahalgam is a hill station in Anantnag district, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Located 2,740 m (8,990 ft) above sea level, it is a tourist destination and popular movie set for Bollywood films. Pahalgam has scenic views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Many devotees make a pilgrimage here during the annual Amarnath Cave Pilgrimage. This takes place during the month of Sawan, which coincides with the July-August time frame. The cave shrine of Amarnath is regarded as one of the holiest in Hinduism.
Planning your trip to Pahalgam
Pahalgam can be reached by taxi from Srinagar. The journey will take about two and a half hours and will cost you Rs 2,200.
