Visitors approaching the Diwan-i-Aam from the Indian War Memorial Museum. (10 November, 2004)

The
Diwan-i-Aam, or
Hall of Public Audience, is where the Emperor meets his subjects. It is built on the outer portion of the Red Fort, away from his own private quarters. Diwan-i-Aam has 60 pillars and a low marble bench for the chief minister (
wazir).
