Kesar Kyari Bagh, Jaipur (6 November, 2004)
Kesar Kyari Bagh (GPS: 26.98442, 75.85254) is a garden on Maota Lake, right before
Amber Fort, in
Jaipur, Rajasthan. I viewed it as I was going up the hill on elephant-back, as I approached Amber Fort.
Kesar Kyari Bagh looked exquisite. It has star-shaped flower beds which the maharaja's once planted with saffron flowers. Kesar Kyari Bagh is one of the two gardens on Maota Lake. The other is Dilaram Bagh, built in 1568. This was the favourite resting place for Emperor Akbar whenever he comes to Ajmer.
The name Dilaram is a play of words - pun, if you may - on the name of the architect who built it, Dilaram, which means heart's ease. There is a small archaeological museum near this garden.
