Giridih (Hindi: गिरिडीह, Bengali: গিরিডি) is a city in the state of
Jharkhand, India. It has a population of 114,000 people (2012 estimate).
The name Giridih can be roughly translated as "hilly land". It is located 289 m (948 ft) above sea level. The highest peak in Giridih is Sri Sammeta Shikharji, also called Parasnath Hills, standing at 1,365 m (4,477 ft).
