Dispur (দিছপুৰ) is the capital of the staste of Assam in India. It was made capital in 1973 when the state of Meghalaya was created and the erstwhile capital Shillong was made Meghalaya's capital.
Disput is located on the outskirts of Guwahati, the largest city in Assam. There is little of interest here, as it is a planned city which functions mostly as an administrative centre for the state.
