Darbhanga (दरभंगा) is a city in Bihar, India. It is the headquarters of the eponymous Darbhanga district. The city traces its history to ancient times, having been mentioned in Hindu epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
The people of Darbhanga speak Maithili, particularly the Muslim community, while Hindi is the official language of administration. Other languages popularly spoken in Darbhanga include Bengali, Marwari, Punjabi, Sindhi and Nepali.
