Dalhousie (Hindi: डलहौज़ी) is a hill station on the western part of Himachal Pradesh in northern India. Located 1,954 m (6,411 ft) above sea level, it has a population of 7,500 people (2012 estimate).
Due to its elevation, Dalhousie experiences a cool climate throughout the year. Winters can get bitterly cold, and often accompanied by wet weather. The town was named after James Broun-Ramsay, the 1st Marquess of Dalhousie, as it was established in 1854 when he was the viceroy of India.
The journey to Dalhousie from Delhi involves several transits. This usually involves a ten-hour train trip to Pathankot followed by a bus journey of 2-3 hours to Dalhousie.
