Bihar Sharif (Hindi: बिहार शरीफ़, Urdu: بہار شریف) is a city in the district of Nalanda, in Bihar, India. It has a population of 232,000 people (2012 estimate).
Bihar Sharif has been a centre of learning, being the site of the Nalanda University, a famous university during ancient times. It served as capital of the Pala Dynasty in the 10th century AD and the capital of the Muslim Governors from the 13th to the 16th centuries.
