Frida HuttenbachFrida Huttenbach (23 February 2009)

Frida Huttenbach née Kramer is most likely the wife of one of the Huttenbach brothers, August and Ludwig, two German siblings who made Penang their home in the 19th century, and founded Huttenbach Brothers & Co. The company set up the first water-power plant in the country as well as traded in goods and providing services. The company also ran a fleet of ships between Penang and Acheh.

The experimental introduction of petroleum lamps along a short stretch of Beach Street in the 1870's was part of a trial carried out by Huttenbach Brothers & Co.

Mrs Huttenbach was born in 1859. She died in 1881.
