Llanes is a municipality on the northeastern part of the Principality of Asturias, in northern Spain. It occupies 264 sq km (102 sq mi) along a 30-km stretch of the coastline, and has a population of 14,000 people (2012 estimate).
Llanes has all along been a fishing port. Its history goes back to at least the 16th century. Today it is a charming little town that attracts a steady stream of domestic tourist to enjoy its atmosphere by the sea.
