Benicasim is a small town and seaside resort in the province of Castell&ocute;, in the
Valencian Community, in eastern
Spain. It covers 36.1 sq km (13.9 sq mi) and has a population of 18,000 people.
Benicasim was founded by the Moors, to be exact the Kutama Berbers in the 8th century. It is located at the foot of the Desert de les Palmes, the mountain range in the area that provides protection to the town against the harsh northern winds.
