Ayamonte is a town in the province of Huelva, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. It is located on the eastern bank of the Guadiana River, facing the town of Vila Real de Santo António in Portugal. The town serves as the border crossing between the two countries. Ayamonte covers 142 sq km (55 sq mi) and has a population of 20,000 people (2012 estimate).

Today Ayamonte has a well-preserved medieval quarter with its narrow streets and historic buildings. This part of town is a pedestrian zone.
