Badia (German: Abtei) is a small town in South Tyrol, in the region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, in northern Italy. Located at 1,315 m (4,314 ft) above sea level, it covers 82 sq km (32 sq mi) and has a population of just over 3,000 people (2012 estimate).
Badia is within the Val Badia area where the locals speak a dialect known as Ladin. It comprises a number of hamlets and villages, among them La Ila and San Ciascian. The town has a local attraction, the Church of the Holy Cross. Located near the birthplace of Saint Josef Freinademetz, it has become a pilgrimage site for believers.

The nearest major city is Verona. From there, take the A22 expressway heading north until Barbiano (Barbian), then head east on country roads passing Ortisei (St Ulrich in Groeden), St Jakob, Santa Cristina Val Gardena, Selva di Val Gardena, Colfosco, Corvara di Badia, La Villa and Pedratsches to reach Badia.
